Melinsey Mill, situated deep in a valley half a mile out of Veryan on the Veryan/St Mawes road, is a medieval water mill. Beautifully refurbished in recent years it houses a small mill museum, a country crafts shop and is a popular place for light refreshments. It has a working wheel fed by the mill pool plus plenty of scenic parking. Sitting at tables under the trees beside the mill pool, watching the ducks and other wild-life on a sunny day is a pleasure worth experiencing.
Opening during the season from 10.00am to 5.30pm, serving morning coffee, light lunches and afternoon cream teas, all cakes and pastries are home-made.
In and around the mill can be found a selection of craftwork for sale, specialising in willow and wood, creating baskets, sculptures, garden accessories, furniture and walking sticks. Special gifts or a unique piece of furniture can be made to order. For further information, call 01872 501049.
A ‘nearly new’ shop in the centre of Veryan Churchtown, dealing with an interesting variety of small second hand and antique objects.
Veryan Green Cancer Charity Shop
Situated in a corner of the green at Veryan Green, the cancer charity shop has an ever changing variety of stock and is open from Tuesday to Friday, 10.30am to 1.00pm, 2.00 to 5.00pm to daily. Since April 1997 it has raised the remarkable figure of over £37,361.
Coming into Veryan Green from the north the first thing a visitor sees are the Veryan Galleries on the right-hand-side of the road, immediately before two of the five well-known Veryan round houses. Originally the White Hart Inn until 1894, the old skittle alley now houses the gallery. Visitors have an ever-changing and wide variety of paintings, miniatures, prints, hand-made cards, fine turned work, hand-painted silk scarves, ceramics and cast Bronzes to choose from. Solo exhibitions are held twice a year. There is a small car-park attached to the premises. Commissions can be arranged for tromp l’oeil work. For further information please call 01872 501469.

Other Local Businesses
Situated in the heart of Veryan, I offer a secretarial service.
To individuals, needing just a letter typing, their curriculum vitae preparing, a document photocopying, a picture scanning or even perhaps wanting a print from a newly discovered transparency taken years ago!
To holidaymakers, anxious to get away but unable to leave all the rat race behind. Many simply bring their disc containing the urgent report(s) and bits of manuscript, dropping off both to me on their way to the beach, and collecting finished article as they go back to their base for tea.
To businesses around the country, who need a “secretary” but not necessarily at their own base. The magic of technology makes this aspect of the business fun and fresh.
To students of all ages, struggling to get dissertations, thesis finished on time.
