Group Captain Michael Lane, RAF (Retd)
1934 – 2010
Michael Lane founded this site in 2001 and worked hard to turn it into an invaluable resource for local residents, businesses, and visitors. His quiet commitment to this project was typical of his dedication to the Parish of Veryan.
Parish Council Meetings
The Veryan Parish Council meets in the parish hall at 7.00pm once every month. Parishioners are welcome to attend.
Foundation governors are urgently wanted for Veryan Primary School. Anyone interested should contact Mrs Annie Lapthorne at school for details and Canon Doug to arrange nominations through the Parochial Church Council.
The existing play park at Moor Launder used to be very wet and the equipment needed replacing. Thanks to the play equipment company Schoolscapes Moor Launder has been turned into a playtime paradise.
With the make-over old play equipment has been replaced and the field has been re-landscaped with new land drains to dry out what was previously soggy.
The project cost £46,000. The Parish Council raised this money from various sources including the police, who gave £500 towards the new gazebo as a meeting place for older children.
Roseland Community Bus
Every second Thursday of the month the community bus goes to St Austell, leaving Veryan at 10.20am and Portloe at 1030am, return cost £3. To book, and seats need to be booked, please phone 01326 270440, 10.00am – 2.00pm Mon/Fri.
Veryan Parish Magazine
Veryan parish magazine is a monthly publication published under the aegis of the PCC which aims to reflect our daily life within the parish. The editors are always in need of copy to help achieve this aim, together with a comprehensive list of parish events for the current month. Anyone with anything of interest to say about the parish, hobbies, sports, interests, happenings past and present, etc, would be welcomed as a contributor to our pages. The magazine has been steadily increasing its coverage and has been part of parish life for many years. Please support it with your contributions to the editors, Christine Edwards (501727).
